Gov. Agbu Kefas Leads State Security Council Meeting in Jalingo to Address Security Challenges

The Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas, today presided over a critical State Security Council meeting at the Exco Chamber, Government House, Jalingo. The meeting was convened to assess the current security situation in the state and to strategize on measures to address emerging challenges.

In his opening remarks, Governor Kefas welcomed the heads of various security agencies and other key participants. He emphasized the importance of the meeting, stating that it would provide an opportunity to review security briefings from the military, police, and other relevant agencies. "The security of our state is paramount, and this meeting will enable us to appraise the situation and strategize for the challenges ahead," Governor Kefas noted.

The Governor also highlighted that at the conclusion of the meeting, he would share his comprehensive plans to enhance the safety and security of Taraba State. Those in attendance included the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali; the Chief Judge of Taraba State, Justice Filibus Joel Agya; the State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barr Yakubu Maikasuwa SAN; the Secretary to the Government of Taraba State, Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps; the Chief of Staff to the Government House, Jalingo, Dr. Jeji Williams; the Special Adviser to Governor Kefas on Homeland Security, Hon. Charles Maijankai; the Chairman of the Taraba State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, HRM Dr. Ishaku Adda Ali; and the heads of various security agencies in the state.

Following the initial discussions, the meeting moved into a closed-door session to allow for a more in-depth analysis and decision-making.

This meeting comes at a time when Taraba State is navigating complex security challenges, including insurgent activities and communal conflicts. The outcome of the meeting is expected to shape the state's security strategies in the coming months, with the Governor poised to implement new measures to safeguard the well-being of residents.
